Nevertheless, losing a phone is sometimes inevitable and an event no one can always prevent. Luckily, if you lose your phone – Android, iPhone, or Samsung, there are ways to track it and easily locate your phone. Read on.

The very first step to tracking your phone is preparing the phone before the unexpected event. Remember, nobody wants to lose their phone, but it happens. So, you should prepare your phone to be able to track it, just in case.

Preparing Your Phone

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Tap on “Security & location” for Google Pixel or “Biometrics & Security” for Samsung.
  • Tap on “Find My Device” (“Find My Mobile” on Samsung) and Turn it on.

Turn location (or location accuracy) on: Turning this on will help you to get the exact location of your phone when finding your device. Follow the steps below to turn it on.

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Tap on “Security & location” for Google Pixel or “Biometrics & Security” for Samsung.
  • Scroll to Location and turn it on. On Samsung, tap “Improve Location Accuracy.”

  • Navigate to “Settings,” click on “Lock Screen,” click on “Contact Information,” then enter your alternate contact and message and click “Save.”

Now that you’ve taken the necessary precautions, let’s dive into how to track your phone if you lose it.

1. Track Your Phone Using Google Maps

  • Log on to and log in with your Gmail account username and password.
  • A map would appear showing your phone’s approximate location. If your phone’s current location can’t be found, its last known location would be displayed.

From the map page, you can find your phone by making it ring (even if it is in silent mode or vibration mode), lock it (using your current pin or a new one), or erase the data on it to protect your personal info.

Mind you, your lost phone must be connected to Wi-Fi or an available Internet network to be found through the “Find My Mobile” or “Find My Phone” feature. Otherwise, it won’t work. The best thing is to keep on trying.

2. Track Your Phone Using Smart Home Speaker

If you misplaced your phone and you’re certain that the lost phone is somewhere within your house, you can track it using a smart home speaker in no time – provided you had previously connected the duo on the same account

If you’ve got a smart home speaker with Google Assistant, simply say “Okay Google, find my phone,” and the smart speaker would make your phone ring even if it’s on silent or vibrate mode.

3. Track Your Phone Using Apple’s AirTag or Any Bluetooth Tracker

If you’re the type that often misplaces your phone or forget where you placed your phone? No worries. Invest in Apple’s AirTag or any other Bluetooth trackers. Such as “Tile.” Simply sync your phone to the tracker and the tracker would set off an alarm on your phone when it gets temporarily misplaced to help you find it quickly.

4. Track Your Phone Using Third-party Trackers

There are lots of third-party apps and trackers that you can use to track your phone if you lose it. Some of these apps include Life360 Family Locator, Lost Android, Cerberus, Where’s My Droid, Prey Anti-Theft, Avast Mobile Security, and so on. You can also go to the Play Store or App Store to search for IMEI trackers.
