Recently, there were rumors floating around the web, saying that the MacBook Air could get a reboot in favor of an entry-level of a 13-inch MacBook in 2018, according to supply chain reports.
Even better, this year might be the perfect time to get yourself a MacBook, for it’s said that the latest MacBook that’ll be released this year is going to cost less than its previous versions. Well, that’s some good news to start with.
This is because Apple is somewhat planning to gain more by simply giving the people what they want, and that is cheaper Apple products that’ll have the same quality-level from the current products that they have.
Of course, it is important to take all this with a certain skepticism because they are just rumors, but it is certainly within the scope of possibilities. Apple has neglected the MacBook Air the last time important updates were expected, so it would make sense to remove the current MacBook that was once very popular, in order to return the favor by simply by forming a new one which is more functional than ever, or create a new one with a more affordable price.
The latest news from the Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, indicates a different destination for the old notebook. Kuo says a cheaper 13-inch MacBook Air is coming, as it was reported also by 9to5Mac.
Currently, they start at $999 in the US and £849 in the UK, but it’s expected to decline for the new model, as Daniel Ives says, (analyst at GHB Insights): “We believe a MacBook Air will be introduced at a lower price in the coming months as Apple’s looking to capture demand with a more digestible price.” as he says.
He also stated: “We believe $799 and maybe $699 will be the prices of this next version.”
If true, this would make the new MacBook cheaper than the iPhone 8, which currently starts at £699.
It is expected that the device will be released in the second quarter of 2018, so very soon, and is part of a plan to increase annual sales of MacBook up to 15%. Apple is the most profitable company in the world, so it’s hard to sell, but the sales of iPhone X have been disappointing (because the iPhone X costs as much as a house), so perhaps they are anxious to recover the profits that they could’ve been getting.
The good thing is, it’s not just about the new MacBook which is coming later this year, but there are also changes that’ll sooner be made by the company that you should probably know about. Apple’s also planning to make changes, starting with the Apple AirPods, wireless/cordless phones, and gravity-defying headphones.
It is expected that a new version with greater Siri functionality and fewer interceptions will be reduced in the second half of the year. Instead of having to touch a headset before ordering Siri to adjust the volume (or anything else you require), you can say “Hey Siri” if you wish.
