The new iMac Pro

The new iMac Pro

Apple has released another expensive item in their inventory, and that is the all-new iMac Pro, and from what other users say, it’s quite a beast. From its expensive price range, there’s a lot more to expect from the iMac Pro. For this anticipated iMac Pro is a workstation-class machine that caters to professional users with demanding workflows.

The iMac Pro was built by the passion of Apple in attempting to appease and get a lot of creative professionals who have long been Mac users, who have driven a large amount of custom software for industries such as film, television, photography and engineering.

They are people who work with “real-time 3D rendering, immersive VR, intensive workflows for developers, high-megapixel photography, complex simulations, massive audio projects and 4K and 8K real-time video editing” those who need that kind of processing power.

Well,  Apple also stated that it was working on a new version of Mac Pro, which will still have a form of a modular design similar to the PC, as well as a new “pro” high-end screen. It is undoubtedly a very powerful computer, but as a consumer-grade machine, it is not upgradable.

Apparently, one of the reasons why Apple made such a machine is that they wanted to prove to the market that they’re planning to boost their way up to the top of the competition, and yes they actually did, for certain reviews and feedbacks coming from several creative professional Tech YouTubers while doing a hands-on review on the Mac;
Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, a well-known tech YouTuber, said “the new iMac Pro is powerful but offers near silent operation, with a gorgeous display and enclosure. The new iMac Pro is significantly faster than the 2013 Mac Pro and the existing iMac lineup.”

While the iMac Pro is facing tons of good reviews and feedbacks, some of you might be wondering how or why other people find it very satisfying to their taste, well, let’s take a look at some of its specs and recent upgrades:

This beast is essentially the iMac 27in 5K with a processor, graphics chips, memory and storage up to 11. Yes, a Mac that has a 5K screen that supports one billion colours and is presented in a unique grey space with accessories in addition to a black Lightning cable, the first one that Apple has ever released through the years. In addition to these unique design elements, iMac Pro has a similar design to the existing 27-inch iMac.

It comes with four Thunderbolt / USB-C ports, four USB-A ports, 10 Gb Ethernet ports, an SDXC card slot that supports UHS-II speed and a headphone jack. It has the same screen as the current 27-inch iMac Retina 5k, worthy of shedding quite a lot for this beautiful piece of iMac perfection.

Apple also claims that creating a comparable workstation with comparable components will cost you so much or more than iMac Pro.

The iMac Pro also has the usual addition of RAM and storage options, although “usual” in this case, of course, means high-altitude components and the opportunity to get up to 128 GB of RAM. (The basic model has 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage space). Apple says the whole system has been fully optimized so iMac Pro will perform better than a custom workstation that uses the same components.

The new thermal design translates into a wider vent at the rear of the machine. While the standard iMacs have a back gate to allow RAM to update, there is no similar gate in iMac Pro, as it is not upgradable. The lack of upgrade capability is one of the main disadvantages of the new machine, as there is no way to change the RAM, the processor or the hard drive.

Much of this integration comes, thanks to the latest custom silicon material that Apple calls T2. It is an integrated system that manages a ton of computerized controls that are usually handled by disparate parts of the motherboard. Manages audio devices, image processing (better 1080p camera and other system management functions.) It also acts as a more powerful SSD driver, directly managing the computing load of file encryption instead of having to clog up the main processor.

Well for the Design, The iMac Pro looks a lot like a standard iMac, with an ultra-thin design and a small footprint, but it’s separated by a unique gray space and a new thermal design that provides 80% more cooling capacity and 75% more another hundred airflows to support 500 watts of power, or 67% more energy than the previous iMac.

To match your new grey space, the iMac Pro comes with grey space accessories that will be exclusive to the high-end machine and would otherwise not be available to Apple users. These accessories include a wireless magic keyboard with a numeric keypad, a black Lightning cable, a black Thunderbolt 3 cable and a Magic Mouse 2 or a Magic Trackpad 2.

Aside from its design, here’s a little outlook to its Processor, iMac Pro uses Intel Xeon-W processors with core chips 8, 10, 14 and 18 available as optional configurations with Turbo Boost up to 4.5 GHz and up to 42 MB cache.

It offers 11 teraflops of exceptional precision computing power and up to 22 teraflops of average precision computing performance, which means it is powerful enough to perform real-time 3D rendering and immersive high-speed VR frames. The iMac Pro, like the new Apple iMacs, supports VR hardware.

Apple claims that Radeon Pro Vega is more than three times faster than any previous iMac GPU, and packs the power of a dual-width graphics card into a single chip.

So, here’s one of the coolest parts, its Storage capacity ranges up to 4TB of solid storage. iMac Pro can be configured with up to 4 TB of solid-state memory and 3 GB / s of performance. It also supports up to 128 GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 ECC memory, minimizing data errors. It really does packs up quite a storage capacity, for you will be enjoying that amount of storage for entertainment storage, educational stuff and for professional work.

From all of these impressive design & specs,
here are some of its other features that make it more professionally convenient:

  • The iMac Pro includes 10Gb Ethernet, the first time it is included in a Mac. It also supports industry-standard link speeds of 1Gb, 2.5Gb, and 5Gb Nbase-T.
  • The improved stereo speakers are included in iMac Pro, which Apple offers broad frequency response, rich bass and more volume.

Although Apple fans have been consulting few professionals about whether to buy this product or not, it’s still undoubtedly one of the Top products that Apple has made throughout the years, and is still making its progress to climb up to the top of the competition in the Digital Warfare.

But hey, that doesn’t mean you can ignore your smartphone, right? You still need it and thus, you have to protect it from any scratches. You may actually use some help on it.
