Since time immemorial, Samsung and Apple are the smartphone giants who live up with each other, challenging technologies and giving the opportunity to their users as to the convenience that each of their respective flagships can offer.

Apparently, during 2016, Samsung has gained the overall dominance regarding the total unit sales in Australia. It even came to a point where Samsung seemed to be the only smartphone provider in the region as it has successfully taken over Apple. As a matter of fact, according to the data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, Samsung has gone up to 64% of sales in the local market and about 60.1% for the first quarter of the year. Apple must have really thought of a plan in order to giant the title back and have their sales.

For the past three months to April of 2015, Samsung has 54.4% of sales while Apple only has 36.3%. On the past three months to April 2016, Samsung’s sales have gone up to 64% while that of Apple decreased to 32.7%. As you can see, there is a 9.6% of change in Samsung sales from April of 2015 to the April of 2016. Apple, on the other hand, has a -3.96% change in their sales.

What were the Samsung’s flagships during this time?

Samsung has Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge at the time when it has stepped on Apple while it was on its way to the top of being the smartphone giant in Australia. Its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge had accounted for the 9.3% of sales and Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have made it and secured the 6.4% of sales in totality. Apple, on the other hand, only have the stand-alone iPhone 6S flagship as its bestselling iPhone model with 10.8%of the local market share.

Samsung has made its name popular during the earlier months of 2016. It has made its revenue very well such that Apple did not seem to have a say as to what smartphone the company needs to have next. However, with the mistake of Samsung Company to release its flagship, Galaxy Note 7, which appears to haven’t been thoroughly tested, there was a massive drop in demand for Samsung at the latter part of the year 2016.

Even with this massive drop, Apple Company was still not able to step up its game and have its own maximum sales in Australia. In fact, from January of 2013 to the July of this year, 2017, Samsung is like the looming dark clouds of Apple on a rainy day as it continues to be on top. The Samsung Company had its drops too but with all those, Apple Company only managed to have somehow reached the sales of Samsung with its own during the November of 2014 where Samsung had 45% of market share while Apple went for a 44.9%. This then had another grand overtake from Samsung on the following month, December 2014 where Apple made it to 45.1% while the Samsung Company had 43.7%. Although this has been treated as a success by Apple, you can see in the graph that it didn’t take long for Apple to be on top. Samsung Company fired back and thus has never let Apple win the competition ever again.

With the coming of the new flagships from both Samsung and Apple this year, you need to watch out for the next release of market shares that these two companies have in Australia. This is definitely going to be exciting to monitor especially that Samsung has released its Galaxy Note 8 as a replacement and improvement of the previous dysfunctional Galaxy Note 7, and Apple Company also has its three latest flagships this year. With the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 PLUS that have been the upgraded versions of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 PLUS respectively, all of us are yet to find out what’s going to happen in the market. Plus, here comes another flagship of Apple which is actually its 10th anniversary iPhone, the iPhone X, it is somehow expected that it would be competitive in the market and might even overlap the market share that Samsung Company is making already.

Clearly, during the previous years, Samsung has been the winning company when it comes to the market shares of its smartphones. You should watch out for this year though because Apple might just as well bounce back to the track and grab the position that Samsung is already enjoying too much.

But, before that happens, you need to remember that you need to protect your smartphone especially when it is one of the flagships of either of this companies. While you are protecting it, you should also make sure that it doesn’t interfere with your fashionable style. Here are some of the suggestions that you should consider.
